Travel Documents

  1. In the event of a lost or expired passport, the Embassy of the State of Kuwait will address each situation with the following procedures:
    1. Kuwaiti Citizens in the US (Tourists).

      The Embassy will issue an emergency travel document.

      The requirements are:

      • A police report confirming that the passport has been lost. (Applicable only in cases of passport loss)
         
      • A copy of the passport (if available) or copy of Kuwaiti Civil ID.
         
      • Three (3) Photos.
         
      • A written request from the citizen addressed to the Embassy.
         
      • Pre-paid, self-addressed envelope (registered mail).
         
      • $50.00 cash or money order made payable to Embassy of the State of Kuwait.

        NO PERSONAL CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED.
         
      • Note: If the passport has been expired for more than three months at the time of applying for an emergency travel document, the Embassy must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait before issuing the document.
         
      • Application for Issuance or Renewal of Travel Document
         
    2. Kuwaiti citizens living in the US (students and patients):

      The Embassy will either

      Issue an emergency travel document (The requirements are listed above).

      OR

      Reissue a new passport in case of an expired or lost passport. The requirements are:

      • a verification letter from the Cultural Office (for students), or the Health Office (for patients).
         
      • A police report confirming that the passport has been lost. (Applicable only in cases of passport loss)
         
      • The original passport (for expired passports).
         
      • Four (4) Photos.
         
      • A copy of the passport (if available) or copy of the civil ID.
         
      • A written request for the issuance of a new travel document/passport including the contact information of a family member in Kuwait.
         
      • Pre-paid, self-addressed envelope (registered mail).
         
      • Note: If the passport has been expired for more than three months at the time of applying for an emergency travel document, the Embassy must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait before issuing the document.
